The UK branch of the World Poultry Science Association awards undergraduate with scholarship

Hannah Scott-Cook, studying BSc (Hons) Agriculture, has won a Summer Vacation Scholarship from the WPSA (World Poultry Science Association) UK branch. The award is a monthly payment for six to ten weeks to allow the student to complete a project.

Hannah's project is entitled the 'Effect of the duration of the adjustment and collection periods on the estimate of dietary metabolisable energy and nutrient retention in broiler chickens when using indigestible marker in the diet'.

Hannah explains the title, "In summary, we are examining the effect of three different diets, two different collection periods for excreta and 2 different adjustment periods to the new diet. I will be analysing the excreta collected and will present the results at the next WPSA Annual Branch Meeting. 

"I will begin my project in July and continue up to six more weeks after that if needed.

"Winning this scholarship has given me an amazing opportunity to complete a research project that will be benefitting the industry. I am looking forward to having my name on a scientific paper and understanding more about poultry production as well as being more closely connected with members of the WPSA."

Her supervisors are Vasil Pirgozliev and Paul Rose.
